Delirium of the Thrush Honest and sincere, this is a focus-crafted collection of textures and thoughts that will stay with you. It’s “short and sweet,” but more importantly it softly encourages one to sit and listen, to be present. I encourage you too; it’s worth every second no matter what you have to do today. Favorite track: 51.

mcrigler This album is so beautiful from start to finish. It’s like an ever unfolding of pure lofi- indie pop delight. For me it hits that sweet spot with hints of those early Elliot Smith and Bright Eyes albums with a dash of Boniver all while remaining completely unique and original. I love it so much!! Favorite track: Conversation with an Empty Room.

As we pass over the international dateline I am left wondering How did we get here? So much spent on fear Blinded by our own Our rules Our rules Our rules
2.
I step in, say hello Tap the light just so you know That I’m here and I mean no harm Think I’d like to get to know you Ask your name—where you from? Wonder why you made this your home? What do you fear? And can you relate? If you had the chance, what would you like to say? I break the lull but I can feel you there Try my best—pretend not to care But my heart is beating for anyone to hear I turn off the light and disappear
3.
51 05:12
Glancing backward where there once was a door Follow the memory—know you’ve been here before Is this something new, or has it always been? Start to understand and see it to the end Connect every point with a straight line Straight lines collide Compose your own shape with each new line New lines decide Each step closer—another voice to be heard All of these lines and all of them blurred
4.
Things 02:57
I’m a rocket into the blue I don’t want to think about today I am me but I am new And ready to believe that it’s ok But these things won’t make me happy These things they won’t fix you Things keep coming at me And it’s you they’re after, too Like the waves that reach for the clouds Aren’t we all just trying to claim our way And if happiness has a cost Tell me what consensus says we’ll pay If these things won’t make us happy If these things won’t tell the truth If these things keep coming at me And these things they want you, too It’s a carousel in a cage That we should all be trying to escape It’s an illusion up on a stage Define it by an ever changing shape Cause these things won’t make us happy These things they won’t stay new These things keep coming at me And it’s you they’re after, too
5.
I am finally finding air Carving out a space to be there She’s emerging bit by bit If you’re willing you can feel it I don’t even know just when it started I don’t even know just where it ends I don’t want to always feel exhausted Learning to accept she’s not pretend So open the windows and air out the attic She’s warming up her voice to Tear down the curtains and blow out the static I’m listening to her voice it sings a song so I can sleep Still I’m searching for some air Looking for a way to be fair
6.
I’m sinking in Weary from fighting it She knows the way Everything infinite We keep talking about the big one—I guess I’m over it Each step forward trying to find a future bit by bit And I’m sinking in So tired of fighting it Cause she knows the way Everything infinite Everything infinite Everything infinite

about

13 years after leaving a band that was my longtime musical home, a monthly creative exercise with a group of pals became a conduit for re-finding my sea legs (and voice) with music. We'd write a song a month off a prompt and, at some point, this little collection revealed itself; calling out for a little more attention, a little more effort.

It’s just six songs. Twenty minutes. It doesn't seem like a big deal, and in many ways it's not, but also - for me - it is. Explorations of identity and time and place. I think of it as a new beginning of sorts. It's a big ask, but I hope it makes you feel something you can keep forever. I'm glad you're here. Thank you for listening. ❤︎

released February 29, 2024

Written, performed, and recorded 2017-2023 by Eli Scheer.

Additional synths and sounds on "The International Dateline" recorded in Arlington, MA in 2011 with Shawn Marquis.

Drums on "51" and "Things" by Lindenfield.

Mixed and mastered by Lindenfield and Bly Wallentine at the Toaster Oven in Provo, Utah.

Big thanks to Shawn and Colin and Bly for being great collaborators and delightful people. To Kyle and the song club gang for being so kind and ridiculously inspiring. To Patrick and Cam and Maclaine and Nathan for the feedback and ideas and to all the pals who have encouraged me to cross the finish line, a thanks which feels way to small for how crucial that support was. To Westlane for the late season infinity flowers. And to Casey for almost all of the above.
